The brush shapes were chosen for their precision, control, and ability
to function as multitaskers. They are shaped specifically to sculpt and
define the face and body by allowing for fewer, smoother strokes. They
provide the freedom to use bolder strokes while distributing product
evenly for a flawless finish. This line of brushes is the result of the first ever collaboration
between a beauty company and traditional Hakuho-do craftsmen. Each of
these brushes benefits from the expertise of the Sephora Pro team and is
handmade by highly skilled craftsmen in Japan using the traditional,
200-year-old manufacturing technique. This ensures the highest quality
design, materials, and assembly for astounding results.
Ougi: A revolutionary large pointed powder brush created through a
collaboration between the Sephora Pro team and traditional Japanese
craftsmen. This beautiful multitasking brush can be used to apply powder,
contour, or bronzer. The innovative synthetic bristle material is
the first to benefit from exclusive technology that creates a softer,
fluffier feel with actual bounce while retaining the benefits of
synthetic bristles. As a result, brushes are soft as cashmere, yet
deposit more product onto the face due to less absorption and are more
hygienic than natural hair. $40
Opinion: I'm adding my opinion for the entire set in this paragraph since it's a really big post. This will apply to all of the brushes. The bristles are silky soft but not over fluffy, yet they are not dense. The large teardrop and the large wedge slope brush have a slightly more dense feeling in the bristles but they're all super soft. I find that they all work wonderfully well with different formula's but work best with with cream and liquid make-up. The brushes are perfect for applying fine finishing powder, for powdered compact make-up, not so much. They really pick up a lot of pigments so that's an added plus. The handles are constructed of wood and quite sturdy but I feel the etched-on logo might smear off with repeated use. I'll have to do the clear nail polish trick in order to protect the Hakuhodo name. Each brush comes in it's own cardboard container and a small leaflet that tells you what it's used for. They really are a work of art. All in all, Sephora and Hakuhodo did a fabulous job creating this luxury collection. I think they could have lowered the price some more but since they are hand-crafted, they are worth it.
