KAT VON D CHRYSALIS EYESHADOW PALETTE

If you really want to splurge on one palette this spring then you should consider buying the new Kat Von D Chrysalis Palette. It's gorgeous and double the size of the usual KVD palettes. I added a photo of the Saint palette next to this new one for comparison. While you do have more colors in this set, the pans are not empty, there's a decent fill weight. Chrysalis is one of two, the other one being the Monarch which has more earthy warm shades. I gravitated toward the icy neutral palette but either way both color ranges are beautiful and I could easily wear both tones.

A captivating, cool-toned eyeshadow palette with savvy composition of colors three large base shades and nine transformative accent hues for a spectrum of stunning eye looks. From subtle to sultry, experience a rebirth of color and explore endless eye looks with the Chrysalis Eyeshadow Palette. Featuring cool-toned shades in an ingenious arrangement that gives you the biggest basics and the most accent hues, now you'll have the freedom to create your heart out without running out of the go-to colors. Relish in the luxurious texture of triple-milled powder, which picks up instantly and lays down with a one-sweep, full-coverage application. The patented Power Last long-wearing formula gives you buildable, from dawn-to-dusk drama, while an infusion of antioxidants including rose extract and vitamins A, C, and E all work to keep your eyelids hydrated and protected.

3 x 0.095 oz Eye Shadow in Lifelike (matte cream), Lunar Lights (pearl gray), Lucid (sparkle rose) 9 x 0.049 oz Eye Shadow in Hybrid Moments (matte deep purple), Mezzanine (sparkle violet), Transition (pearl mauve), Glasswing (matte caramel), Melancholia (pearl silver), Black Milk (matte gray), Graphic Nature (pearl charcoal), Entombed (pearl blue), Tornay (matte navy)

Inspired by the metamorphosis of the butterfly, Kat created this palette to give you endless ways to transform your eyes every day. The palette is decorated with original artwork derived from her love of butterfliesa symbol of rebirth and renewal. Follow Kat's tutorials for tips and inspiration.

Formula: These shadows are outrageously creamy! There is some minor fallout if you stroke the brush to roughly into the pan but if your careful you'll only need a bare amount because the pigmentation here is really amazing. I love that the top three highlighter/base shades also have great pigmentation except maybe the first one which is the lightest out of all of them. I have to mention Lunar Lights is one of the best base shades I've seen in a silver gray shimmer and the Lucid base is a gorgeous baby pink that actually looks vibrant on the lids instead of milky. You can't tell from the photo because of the flash but they are rich colors with subtle shifts, you need to see them in person for yourself. My favorites are Transition, Black Milk and Graphic Nature, they are just too beautiful for words and the most unique out of the entire palette in my opinion is Transition (pearl mauve color), if I could choose one shade that should be made into a permanent single that would be the one. The shadows have a decent long wear even without primer and there's' no tacky glitter shades in the formula.

Packaging: This comes boxed in the same print as the palette which is a sturdy cardboard stamped in shiny violet foil inlay and an overall color scheme of blue, purple, and pale pink. The inside mirror sports the same lacy stamped design as well as the backside with the color names. I found the mirror quality slightly fuzzy and not as great as the other palettes and there's is no eyeliner pencil or brush in this kit. I believe the palette length is about eight inches overall. It's about as long as the UD Naked palette but much fatter in width.

Bottom Line: The Chrysalis collection of colors allows you play it up in multiple ways so you can create dozens of beautiful looks. The shadows are creamy, have high pigmentation and healthy ingredients to keep your lids moisturized. You definitely will not be bored and you'll love the highlighter/base shadows on their own. This is one of KVD's best palette to date in a generous art inspired package. Are you a warm Monarch or a cool Chrysalis girl? Stay beautiful! XOXO
